WATCH: Sun shines on a wonderful Grantown Show

The organisers admitted they got lucky as a rare sunny day in the past month drew out a huge crowd for a bumper Grantown Show.

After a miserable July and early August, the Strathspey Farmers' Club was blessed with great weather for the biggest event in the farming calendar in Badenoch and Strathspey.

The Heathfield Park Showground was abuzz with spectators, exhibitors and livestock.

This year's show was also a double celebration with the club hosting the national Scottish Jacob sheep show and marking 100 years of the Highland Pony Society.

Show president Scott Pirie had a busy but enjoyable day.

He told the Strathy: "Last year I thought I had struck gold with the weather but this year I have again. I went and bought myself a show jacket – I have never had one in my life before – but that's two years that it has been hanging in my wardrobe because of the great weather.

"This is just perfect – we can not ask for anything better."

"We must be the luckiest show on the farming circuit – we have to be!"

There was no final confirmation of gate numbers at the end of the day but it seemed to be a bumper crowd brought out by the sunny weather.

The forecast is for rain to arrive back in Strathspey tomorrow.

Check out the Strathy's website tomorrow for more action from the Grantown Show.
