Residents at a Grantown care home received an early Christmas surprise as students from Grantown Grammar School played a medley of festive carols.

Musicians from the brass section of the school orchestra treated residents at Lynemore Care Home to an al fresco performance of some Christmas classics.

Residents watched from indoors as the students stoically performed in the outdoor chill for 40 minutes.

Ros Munro, activities coordinator at Lynemore Care Home, explained: “Last year I invited the school to bring three pupils who sang and played piano for us and one of them is now a full time carer with us.

"At that point I discussed the idea of us forming a Lynemore community choir with Kirsten Shearon, principal teacher of music.

"We tried to progress this but then Covid-19 came along.

"However, Kirsten and I keep in touch about giving pupils performance experience, as she is very community spirited.

"The residents and staff were absolutely delighted to receive a visit from the students. It really brightened our Christmas. The look of joy on the residents' faces was wonderful."
