WATCH: Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team comes to the aid of four climbers in blizzard conditions
Members of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team were called out late yesterday afternoon for two mountaineers who got into difficulty returning from their route.
A CMRT spokesperson said: "Whilst searching for the missing pair in arduous conditions, a further two climbers were reported overdue after completing a route in the Coire an t-Sneachda.
"Thankfully both parties were found in the Coire Raibert area by the rescue team and helped off the mountain.
"There has been significant snow fall recently in the Cairngorms with team member wading through waist deep snow at times during the rescue."
There was plenty of praise for the volunteers for the rescues carried out in the toughest conditions of the winter so far.
Chris Hobson stated on social media: "Great work guys, we decided to abort at after swimming (in places) through the deep snow.
"Using the avalanche planning tool helped as we stuck to decisions at 'key places' to support our decision-making process.
"Dog was shattered when we got back to the car."
David Bell stated: "Omg so fortunate to have been found in those conditions. Brave determination saved lives."
Kenny Peat posted: "Amazing people who put their own life on the line to save others. Incredible people."
The CMRT is a voluntary organisation which relies on donations to carry out its work. More details about the team can be found here
