WATCH: Cairngorm Mountain Rescue team and HM Coastguard rescue injured rock climber at Huntly’s Cave near Grantown on Spey
A climber has been airlifted to safety after suffering injury at a popular rock climbing spot in the Highlands.
Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, who captured video footage of the rescue, were called to Huntly’s Cave near Grantown-on-Spey on Thursday evening along with an ambulance crew.
The casualty required treatment at the scene before being airlifted to hospital by an HM Coastguard helicopter.
A Cairngorm MRT spokesman said: “The team were called out (yesterday) evening to a climber who had sustained a lower leg injury whilst climbing at Huntly's Cave.
“After receiving some casualty care from the team and the Scottish Ambulance Service, the climber was evacuated to HM Coastguard - Highland R151 and airlifted to hospital.
“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
The 292 metres high rock climbing crag at Huntly’s Cave, set in a deep ravine, attracts a great many rock-climbing enthusiasts.
The crag lies a few miles from Grantown-on-Spey just off the A939, known locally as the Dava Road as it crosses Dava Moor.
The Dava Way, which follows the old railway line from Grantown to Forres, passes close by.
