Warnings of delays on the A95 whisky road near Highland Council boundary
There are warning of forthcoming roadworks and delays for a section of the A95 between Tormore and Bridge of Avon.
The stretch is to benefit from major surfacing improvements worth £275,000 with work set to get under way later this week.
BEAR Scotland has said the improvements will address defects in the road surface on the A95 near Woodville and create 'a safer and smoother road surface for motorists'.
The project is expected to get start this Wednesday and is programmed to take place over two weeks.
The improvements will be carried out between 9am and 6pm each day, with surfacing due to be completed by 6pm on Friday 1 October.
No works are programmed to take place over the weekend.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a lane closure with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours.
The convoy system will be removed overnight, however, due to the nature of the works, one lane of the A95 will remain closed and temporary traffic lights will be in place.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This surfacing project near Woodville has been designed to improve the general condition and safety of this section of the A95 for motorists.
“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists.
"Regrettably there will be some delays but our teams will do all they can to complete the scheme as safely and quickly as possible.
“We thank motorists for the patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A95.
"We encourage them to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
