Warning of overnight road closures on the A86 and A889 in Badenoch from tomorrow night
Road bosses have warned essential surfacing improvements at five locations on the A86 and A889 are set to get under way from tomorrow with diversions in place.
The programme of improvements will see over two kilometres of the A86 and A889 resurfaced near Laggan, Newtonmore and north of Dalwhinnie.
The overnight improvements will take approximately three weeks to complete.
Works will take place between 8pm and 6am each night with surfacing due to be completed by 6am on September 28 subject to weather conditions.
No works are planned for Friday or Saturday nights.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “The works proposed across five locations on the A86 and A889 will help address defects and greatly improve the road surface for motorists.
“The overnight closures are essential to the safety of road workers due to the narrow widths of the road at these locations.
"We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of these works to road users by carrying out the work overnight and by avoiding Friday and Saturday nights.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these projects.
"We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
To progress the works safely at each location, an overnight road closure will be in place every night when works are taking place.
Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
The work is planned to take place as follows:
* A86 Cluny Farm – Sunday 5 September to Monday 6 September (two nights)
