Warning of major roadworks affecting A9 south of Pitlochry
Essential maintenance work is set to get under way on the A9 Dalnabo overbridge near Ballinluig.
The works are scheduled to begin on Wednesday 5 January.
The project will involve the removal and replacement of all surfacing and bridge deck waterproofing, as well as concrete repairs and upgrades to the bridge drainage system.
The planned works are expected to take 12 weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions.
The A827 carriageway will be reduced to one lane over the bridge under a temporary traffic lights system to facilitate safe access for the duration of the works.
Some safety critical activities will require a traffic management convoy system to be used.
The final resurfacing of the bridge will require an overnight closure of the A827, and all relevant stakeholders will be informed of the intended date for this operation once it is confirmed.
To facilitate works to the bridge support structure, temporary traffic management will also be required on the A9 dual carriageway.
However, one lane in each direction will remain open at all times to minimise traffic disruption as much as possible.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This essential maintenance project will see this overbridge on the A9 near Ballinluig fully refurbished ensuring that it remains safe in service for years to come.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential works and would encourage all road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
