Police are warning of a scam involved cheques in the local area

Police are warning that a number of fradulent cheques have been passed to pay for groceries in a shop in the strath.

A force spokesman said: "The persons tendering the cheques claimed that they belonged to their elderly relative who could not attend the shop direct.

"The cheques later were returned unpaid. Local businesses are reminded that personal cheques are no longer guaranteed and proprietors are advised to be wary of accepting cheques from those they don’t know."

Police are also appealing for information after a number of small trees were damaged near to the Silverfjord Hotel in Kingussie.

The incident occurred some time between 11.30pm on Sunday and 8.24am the next day. Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
