A vulnerable 54-year-old man who it was thought might head to the Kingussie area has been traced safe and well, police have confirmed.
Concerns were sparked after Selim El Syed disappeared after being last seen in East Hermitage Place in Leith on Monday afternoon.
Police launched a public appeal on Wednesday in a bid to locate him.
It was thought that he might have travelled to Kingussie after recently spending a holiday there and 'loving it'.
A statement released by the force said: “Police Scotland can confirm that Selim El Syed, 54, who had been reported missing from Leith has been traced safe and well."
Police thanks the public and media for their help in tracing him. No further information was given.
