Restrictions on visiting numbers to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness have been partially lifted today.

An NHS Highland spokeswoman said: "The hospital continues to have admissions with flu and other respiratory related illnesses, however, there has been a significant decrease in the number of cases and we are now approaching normal levels of flu like illness for this time of year.

"The visiting restriction at Raigmore Hospital which was put in place in January and asked that there be only one visitor per patient at a time has now been lifted.

"However, we would ask that members of the public adhere to the current visiting policy which is two visitors per bed at any one time.

"Although the levels of flu like illness are reducing there are still cases of flu like illness in community. We have also had reports of some cases of vomiting and diarrhoea.

"Visitors experiencing any flu like symptoms or diarrhoea and vomiting should not visit anyone in a hospital or care home setting until they have recovered."
