VIDEO: Snow line well below Coire Cas car park level at Cairngorm

There certainly has been a stark contrast in temperatures and conditions this Spring in the strath.

The snow level at Cairngorm is currently well below the Coire Cas car park level; Scotland's best known hill-pass the Lairig Ghru is cloaked in snow and the temperature is forecast to drop to -2C overnight in Aviemore where there were a few flurries of snow this afternoon.

But just last Wednesday the mercury nudged 21C in the village and the temperatures soared even higher during a prolonged spell on hot weather at the end of last month.

Of course the current Covid-19 lockdown meant that people had to enjoy the sunny weather from their garden when not enjoying their one-hour of daily exercise.

But now most folk will be only too keen to remain indoors given the turn to chilly weather.

As the saying goes and most gardeners in the strath will only be too well aware: "Ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out”.
