"I have just reported a break in or vandalism to the old hospital," one neighbour posted today.

"At the back door area."

The incident occurred within the last 24 hours, he said.

"A series of lights are on within the hospital now."

Locals residents have been left surprised that the power is even still being supplied to the vacant building which closed after decades of service to the community when the new Badenoch and Strathspey Community Hospital opened in Aviemore in September 2021.

The neighbour said: "Over the past week it looks like someone or kids have been there causing some damage.

"The old shed is their den.

"Hopefully the police and NHS Highland will attend and secure it."

The authorities have been informed that the bottom pane of a rear door has been removed that that persons unknown have clearly tried to smash a side window.
