UPDATE: TransmitAIR broadband customers in Strathspey will need to find new provider
Broadband customers in Strathspey have been left without a provider after the failure to resolve a legal row over a telecoms mast by Dulnain Bridge.
TransmitAIR has been using the mast Laggan Hill but the relationship with operator Cellnex UK has broken down.
The ISP’s customers in Grantown and the wider area have been left without connection to the internet for the past week causing all manner of difficulties.
Now TransmitAIR has admitted defeat and said the firm will no long be able to provide broadband services to the area.
It has been serving customers since the end of 2022 in the areas not currently connected by BT Openreach.
The exact nature of the dispute has not been revealed by either party.
TransmitAIR director Richard Watson said: “We regret to inform you that despite our best efforts to resolve the situation we find ourselves in with the operator of the Grantown mast, we have been unable to reach an agreement.
“This means that we will be unable to deliver a service to you now, or in the foreseeable future.
“Other providers may step in and offer service; however, we are not able to confirm anything at the time of writing.
“In this regard, unless you tell us otherwise, we may pass your details on to them, in order that may make you an offer.
“If you do not wish us to pass on your details, please let us know by emailing support@transmitair.com.
“We are only seeking to do this in order to try to offer you a continuation of the services which we’ve delivered until recently.
“Please ensure you have an alternative method by which to contact the emergency services, should you require them.
“We will be informing the Scottish Government and Ofcom in due course but wanted to let you know without further delay.

We want to apologise again that we have not been able to continue the service, and to thank you for your custom and support, since we started connecting customers across Strathspey in late 2022.”
Cellnex UK had told the Strathy yesterday that it was terminating the contract with TransmitAIR after months of trying to find a resolution failed.
But the ISP had said that it was still making progress and was hopeful of a resolution.
TransmitAIR said that it has in excess of 70 customers in Strathspey.
The Strathy is contacting TransmitAIR and Cellnex UK for comment.
