Aviemore A9 crash leaves three in hospital; busy Highland trunk road has now reopened confirms Traffic Scotland
Three people have been taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness following a crash which closed the A9 for several hours.
Emergency services were scrambled to a section of the busy trunk road at the Lynwilg junction by Aviemore at around 1.15pm to reports of a collision involving two cars.
Police, two fire engines from Aviemore and Kingussie, four ambulances and a critical care paramedic were all sent to the scene.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 1.21pm to attend a two-car road traffic collision on A9 near Aviemore.
“Four ambulances and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene and three patients were transported to Raigmore Hospital.”
There was no immediate word as to their conditions.
The road was closed in both directions, with traffic diverted by the B9152 through Kincraig.
The A9 has since reopened, with Traffic Scotland confirming the scene was clear by 5.05pm.
