"Due to unforeseen circumstances our 10.30am service has been cancelled," reported the company on social media.

The notice explained: "A power line has fallen onto the track, therefore we cannot run our services until this has been removed."

The company hope to be running services again this afternoon – with 12.30pm and 2.45pm trains leaving from Aviemore Station as scheduled.

"But we will update as soon as we know."
