UPDATE: A9 is open again by Carrbridge after serious accident yesterday afternoon





The A9 has reopened after being closed overnight following a serious accident by Carrbridge.

Police reported at 8am that the region’s arterial road was open once again to traffic.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene yesterday after an overturned vehicle closed the A9 in both directions between Slochd and Carrbridge.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it had despatched five appliances to the scene after receiving a call at 2.21pm.

Engines from Aviemore, Grantown, Kingussie and two from Inverness were involved in the callout.

It said two vehicles were involved in a collision.

Traffic Scotland, meanwhile, in a post at 2.34pm, advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes and said a vehicle had overturned on the carriageway.

A police spokesperson confirmed: “The A9 has reopened at Carrbridge following a crash which was reported at 2.20pm on Wednesday.

“Motorists are thanked for their patience.”

There is no update on casualties.
