Two people badly injured after A9 crash near Aviemore
Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious accident south of Aviemore on the A9 Inverness-Perth road earlier today.
The accident involving an empty heavy fuel tanker and a Toyota Avensis happened at about 1.45pm.
Police, ambulance and the fire service attended the collision on the A9 which occurred around five miles south of Aviemore.
A police spokesman said: "The attending Highland and Islands Fire and Rescue crew had to cut free one of the three occupants of the motor car who was flown by air ambulance to Raigmore Hospital with serious injuries.
"A second occupant of the car also with serious injuries was conveyed to hospital by road."
The road was closed for approximately five hours for an accident investigation to be conducted and to recovery the vehicles. The police spokesman said there are no further details available at this time as to the condition of those involved.
Northern Constabulary is appealing for witnesses who may have been travelling in the vicinity at the time of the accident to call (01463) 715555.
