Two new appointments will help put Grantown on the business map
Grantown Business Association has recruited two new project officers to assist with their plans over the next year.
Kath Pierce and Jane Candlish will share the position which is being funded by the Berry Burn Community Fund.
Their work will include advertising, marketing, events and developing membership benefits.
The GBA represents a range of businesses and seeks to help them thrive by promoting their services.
The association also runs the Discover Grantown accounts on Facebook and Instagram where businesses and landscape are regularly featured.
GBA chair Karen Martin said: “As a group of volunteers, who are all busy with our own businesses, working with Kath and Jane gives us the opportunity to implement far more activity to benefit our members than we would be able to do on our own.
“We hope to also work out a way to make the roles sustainable for the long term once the Berryburn funding has finished.”
Kath Pierce runs Somewhere, a social enterprise that produces Somewhere: For Us magazine, supporting the LGBTQ+ community across Scotland.
Kath also works as a freelance strategist for businesses, creatives and neurodivergent individuals, and has an Enterprise Masters degree from Manchester Business School.
Jane was a news reporter for the Strathy and The Press and Journal. She now runs the Spey Bank Studio in Grantown with her partner Angus Grant.
Kath said: "I'm delighted to join the GBA team as one of the new project officers. It is clear to see the amount of time and effort which have gone into supporting local businesses in Grantown up to now, so I'm really excited about contributing to the association's dynamic new phase of development."
Jane commented: “Grantown has so much to offer residents and visitors to the Cairngorms National Park, not only its thriving High Street and beautiful architecture and scenery but also in the range of essential services the town has.
“I am looking forward to helping to spread the word about how special the town is.”
