Two lost walkers found safe and well in early morning rescue in Cairngorms





Members of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team were called out late last night to help two walkers who got lost whilst descending the UK's second highest peak.

The the pair were found safe and well after the alert had initially been raised at 9.30pm.

A CMRT spokesman said: "Team members were called out at 9.30pm last night to search for two walkers who had become lost descending Ben Macdui.

"The couple were able to provide a grid reference via phone but had no torches with them.

"The pair were located in Strath Nethy just after midnight and walked out to Bynack Stables. Everyone was safely back at base by 3.15am."

Team leaders have said that at this time of the year it is always worth walkers reviewing contents in their backpacks and to start to 'Think Winter'.
