An Aviemore-based holiday home agency has gained a glowing endorsement from American TV personality and businesswoman Caprice.

The Maltings, a self-catering property in Nethy Bridge, has made its film debut as a key location for her festive movie A Scottish Christmas Secret which is being shot in the strath.

The film, starring and produced by the former supermodel - full name Caprice Bourret - is a lighthearted family film set in the Highlands at Christmas time.

Managed by igloo.scot, The Maltings in Nethy Bridge provided the perfect backdrop for scenes in the production, with Strathspey’s snowy landscapes playing a vital role in capturing the festive magic at the heart of the story.

Caprice, who has appeared on the covers of Vogue, GQ, and Cosmopolitan, and her team were scouting for locations at the end of last year and got in touch with igloo about using The Maltings.

The history and uniqueness of The Maltings set it apart from other options they had looked at in the area.

The property started life over 250 years ago as The Mill of Garlyne and still retains many unique features from its history.

Founded in 2020 by Erin McBean and Nick Lyon, igloo.scot has quickly established itself as a leading holiday home agency in the Cairngorms National Park, with a portfolio of nearly 30 properties.

Erin McBean, director at igloo.scot, recalled her surprise when the production team first got in touch: “When I took the call from the production company, I couldn’t believe it.

“Our guests tell us all the time that our properties are special but to have one recognised as a potential film location was a wonderful surprise.

“It’s been a fantastic opportunity to showcase not just The Maltings but also the beauty of the Cairngorms.”

Nick Lyon, fellow director at igloo.scot, shared his excitement about the property’s starring role: “It’s been fantastic to see The Maltings and the Cairngorms featured in this production.

“Working with Caprice and her talented team over the past few months has been an absolute pleasure.

“The house, a 250-year-old converted mill full of character, was just what Caprice was looking for. She also really wanted snow, and luckily the cold snap delivered plenty in Nethy during filming.”

Mr Lyon himself stepped in front of the camera for the first time, making a small cameo in the film:

“It was a fun experience and definitely a first for me!” he said. “Caprice and her crew made me feel very welcome on set and even remarked I was a natural!

“Though I’m much more used to being on the other side of the camera showing off our lodges at their best.”

Caprice took to social media to share behind-the-scenes photos from various locations and commented, “Feeling so blessed making fun, good-hearted Christmas movies and having the best time doing it!” https://www.instagram.com/capricebourret/

Some of the filming also recently took place on the slopes of Cairngorm Mountain.

Igloo.scot represents a diverse range of properties in strath with 26 properties online and four more launching soon.
