Tubing and guided walks return to Cairngorm Mountain
Fans of the great outdoors now have more to discover at Cairngorm Mountain as it launches its summer activity offering today following a partial reopening of the site last month.
Thrill seekers are now able to book in for a high-speed tubing experience down a 70m slide with two parabolic turns.
Suitable for both adults and children from the age of four, the Cairngorm team has been busing implementing a host of new safety procedures to reflect current government guidelines to ensure a fun, safe experience for all.
These measures include numbers limited to eight people per 30-minute session, compulsory face coverings and post-session deep cleaning of all tubes and surfaces. Sessions run between 11am and 4.30pm.
Also relaunching is guided ranger walks, with visitors able to discover more about the natural environment, wildlife and the Cairngorm mountain range. The walks run every Thursday, leaving at 10.45am to return by 4pm.
As with the tubing, a number of adaptations have been made in line with covid guidelines, including a maximum group size of six and walking in household groups with social distancing observed. Face masks are not compulsory on guided walks.
Susan Smith, interim chief executive of Cairngorm Mountain Scotland Limited (CMSL), said: “We’re excited to be able to offer our summer mountain activities for visitors. The tubing and guided walks are always really popular and allow people with different interests to experience what Cairngorm Mountain has to offer.
“As with the rest of the site, we’ve spent months carefully planning and implementing health and safety procedures, making alterations to ensure the experiences are both fun and safe.
“With the recent bouts of great weather, we’ve already welcomed lots of people to the mountain, and look forward to extending our offering for the rest of the summer season.”
As well as pre-booked activities, visitors are able to enjoy the Cairngorm Mountain experience, with fun activities for kids and the chance to learn more about the history of one of Scotland’s best-loved destinations. The Cairngorm Café is also open daily between 10.30am-6pm for takeaway fresh food and hot drinks."
