Gas leak at Inverness is resolved but some delays still expected

Nework Rail are reporting that all lines have reopened after this morning’s gas leak near the railway at Inverness.

“As the service recovers, trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised. This is expected until 17:00.”

Customers are advised: “You can use your ticket on the following services, at no extra cost:

“Citylink M90 between Inverness, Perth and Glasgow / Edinburgh

“Stagecoach North between Inverness and Wick / Thurso / Aberdeen, and local services between Inverness and Tain

“Rail replacement buses will run from Inverness operated by PhotoFlash, Mini Bells Exec and Arays Bus.”

It’s been confirmed that there was a gas leak on a freight train wagon south of Inverness station.

Firefighters and emergency services are now safely clear of the line.

“Check before you travel: You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

“For helpful advice if you need to travel on a rail replacement service, including accessibility information, please use this page.

“You can find the location of your replacement bus by checking station signs or by searching for your station on our station information pages.”

Passengers may be entitled to c​​​ompensation: “If you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.”
