ScotRail Highland Mainline services between Edinburgh and Glasgow and Inverness disrupted by broken down Caledonian Sleeper train
A broken down train on the Highland Mainline railway is causing disruption to some services between the Central Belt and Inverness.
This morning’s Caledonian Sleeper service from London Euston to Inverness developed a fault between Pitlochry and Blair Atholl.
This led to two early morning south running services from the Highland capital being delayed by 71 minutes and terminating in Perth
The sleeper train is understood to have been moved to Blair Atholl initially and is now moving at normal speed towards Inverness.
But ScotRail is still warning that train services between Edinburgh/Glasgow and Inverness may be cancelled, delayed or revised, with disruption is expected until 12 noon today
A ScotRail spokesman said: “Due to a broken down train between Pitlochry and Blair Atholl, services between Inverness and Edinburgh/Glasgow Queen Street may be subject to delays, alterations or cancellations.
“Customers can travel via Aberdeen but this will add significant time to your journey.
“Ticket acceptance is now in place between Perth and Inverness on the CityLink M90 service running in both directions.
