A major search on the day involved all the emergency services but the local fire crews, for one, were hampered by the difficulty of access on the Kinrara Estate, with only a narrow road with limited bridges down to the river.

Two fire engines had to remain at the top of the road, by the B9152 while their crews walked the rest of the way to the water.

A coastguard helicopter was at the scene for an hour or so, hovering back and forth along the river.

Other emergency vehicles were parked up nearby, including ambulances and police vehicles.
