Today’s Grantown Show is in excellent hands
The woman at the helm of today’s Grantown Show has had plenty of training.
Show president Suzie Young explained: “My family have been involved in the show for more than 50 years going back to my grandparents on both my parents side.
“So it’s a pleasure for me to keep the family tradition going, having spent my childhood growing up on the showfield helping with the preparations!
“We help run our family farm just outside Cromdale with my husband Richard, my parents (George and Doreen McConachie) and our two children Taylor and Jessica who are also keen to help out with the show.
“We show cattle ourselves so know too well the time and hard work that goes into preparing livestock for the show.”

It looks like the organisers have struck lucky again with the day’s weather with rain not expected to now arrive until late in the aftertoon. Forecasts earlier in the week had had the rain coming in at lunchtime.
The livestock pens and show rings erected and the safety gates are in place.
Ms Young said on Tuesday: “It has been full on this week getting ready for Thursday.
“We have a great committee and team of helpers that help organise and set up the show.
“We could not do without - they are the back bone of the show and I’m ever grateful for their support, young and old.
“We have seen an influx of younger members coming along to meetings and are more than willing to help which is great as they are the future of our show.”
“We have lots of exciting things on show day for all the family to come along and enjoy.
“The field is in great condition this year. We have lots of hard standing that was put in place in previous years which stands us in good stead for a wet year if the heavens do open!”
