Three people have been taken to hospital after an avalanche in the Cairngorms

Emergency services have responded to an avalanche in the Cairngorms this morning.

The avalanche was reported to have happened shortly before 11.30am in the Coire an t-Sneachda area.

Officers from Northern Constabulary are being assisted by members of Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, RAF Helicopter 137 and Strathclyde Police Mountain Rescue Team, who were conducting training in the area.

A police spokesman said: "Three people have been taken to Raigmore Hospital by air and are not thought to have sustained serious injuries."
