Re-surfacing work planned for the A82/A86 junction in Spean Bridge has been welcomed by local SNP MSP Dave Thompson.

The Holyrood member for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch was pleased to hear that BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be carrying out essential repair works on the A82 Trunk Road.

The work will take place overnight (7pm-6am) under a combination of 10mph convoy traffic management system and a road closure, and is programmed to start on Sunday March 8.

Mr Thompson said: “This good news follows some local concern that works completed late last year were not up to the required standard.

“I am pleased that Transport Scotland have listened to the views of locals, including John Fotheringham, Chairman of Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge and Achnacarry Community Council, who has been vocal on driving the issue of road repair forward.

“I hope the timeous response by Transport Scotland to the local concern goes some way to allaying the fears of John and the rest of the community by showing that Transport Scotland are committed to providing a high standard of service.

“I look forward to the essential works being completed”.
