Granddad Ian Findlay organized the “Lenny McConnell Charity Golf Day” at Grantown Golf Club earlier this year, in aid of The Archie Foundation at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital - and it has proved a staggering success.

Ian’s granddaughter Lenny was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in April 2023 and started her first block of treatment in May.

Due to her living so far away from Aberdeen, her mum Claire and dad Barry, from Cromdale, had to stay with her through her treatment.

This is where The Archie Foundation stepped in and provided accommodation at the Archie Family Centre, which is attached to the children's hospital.

They were there for a total of 10 weeks, all funded by the charity.

The family rooms were used for a total of 357 nights at a cost to the charity of £20 per night.

The whole family were so grateful for that and wanted to show their appreciation by raising money to help them carry on the amazing work that they do.

“We are delighted to say that a total of £11,243.05 was raised for The Archie Foundation!” Ian told the Strathy.

“We all want to say a huge thank you to those who helped, played, donated and sponsored on the day .

“And especially big thanks to the club, for the complimentary use of their beautiful course.”
