Low temperatures lead to dusting of snow on Badenoch and Strathspey roads

Negative temperatures left a light dusting of snow overnight on all routes in the strath.

This morning's roads condition report from Highland Council confirmed that all routes were still being treated.

But there were no known overnight issues.

On neighbouring Inverness roads to the north, the low roads had stayed dry mostly, with occasional damp stretches with grey frost in places.

On the higher ground there had been a dusting of snow and ice and some old snow melt on the roads.

Gritters were still heading off to treat all routes.

There are a number of schools across the Highlands closed today due to the weather, affecting six secondaries (1266 pupils), 34 primaries (1449 pupils) and 26 nurseries (259 children) but again the strath had escaped the closures, apart from yesterday's lunchtime disruption at Kingussie High through a flooded kitchen. Normality had been restored by today.
