Study finds Aviemore is one of the top five 'chilled' locations in UK

It might not have felt like it for residents locally but Aviemore has been rated as one of the top five chilled-out staycation locations in a new study.

Researchers identified the most stress-free locations by analysing a number of factors including tourist figures, green space, average rainfall and Covid cases.

The research, which was carried out by PaulCamper, aims to help people find the most tranquil locations they can explore and unwind.

And now the kids are back to school, it is the perfect time for the adults to get away and relax.

The analysis found Cirencester in Gloucestershire is the most chilled UK staycation spot followed by Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire in second and Tunbridge Wells, Kent, in third.

Aviemore came in fifth scoring well for being the happiest location, as well as having fewer tourists and a low local population in the ranking according to the study.

Inverness nearby also made the list, coming in at 15.

The top 10 most chilled UK staycation locations in the study were:

Cirencester (Gloucestershire); Bourton-on-the-Water (Gloucestershire); Royal Tunbridge Wells (Kent); Rye (East Sussex); Aviemore (Highlands); Bicester (Oxfordshire); Whitby (Yorkshire);

Stratford-upon-Avon (Warwickshire); Maidstone (Kent); Southampton (Hampshire).

All the data for the various stress factors was collected from a range of sources.

These figures were then ranked from one to 55 for each location, one being the best and 55 being the worst for each factor.

The location with the lowest final total was deemed the least stressful location and the location with the highest total was found to be the most stressful according to these factors.
