Credit where it's due to Fiddler of Strathspey stars
Strathspey’s vibrant young music festival The Fiddler of Strathspey has launched a membership structure to give credit to the musicians taking part.
The scheme is open to anyone participating in two or more sessions either open or group.
At the same time, fiddlers are being encouraged to enter one or both of the festivals two competitions.
The competition on the morning of Friday, September 21 in St Columba’s is open to pupils in Strathspey, Speyside and Badenoch and consists of own choice pieces, slow air or traditional march, strathspey and reel.
The following day's event has 10 classes covering junior 9 and under to senior open for experienced players.
The festival organisers have just been presented with a unique trophy for the winner of one of the latter, playing an original piece, composed and presented by the entrant.
It was handed over by Karen Blessington, of Grantown East Highland Heritage and Cultural Centre, the festival’s patron, (pictured with festival organiser Bill Sadler).
The “Celtic Horn” has been designed specially and hand crafted by Grabriel Moyne.
