Not only were there a magnificent 102 runners (joggers, walkers etc) but Tom Martyn came home in just 14mins 57, shaving off 13 seconds from Andrew Douglas' record set last August.

"It was a new course record!" celebrated race director Hilary Quick, who pointed out there were many visiting participants to see it, including 28 first-timers.

She told the Strathy: "Tom came to Aviemore today from Edinburgh, where he is a runner with the city's Hunters Bog Trotters."

As ever the event was made possible by a sterling team of volunteers. Those backing up Hilary were: Val Machin, Paul Caban, Pete Wright, Rory Mitchell, Janice Cargill, Bill Dewitt, Iona Taylor, David Machin and Sue Oxley.

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Aviemore parkrun Results Page.

Since the first run in 2017, 4,217 participants have completed 9,440 parkruns covering a total distance of 47,200 km.
