Strathspey Thistle have ‘parted company’ with manager Bobby Beckwith and his assistant after just four games in charge.

The Jags have lost all four games so far in the Highland League the latest being a 6-1 reverse at home to Forres Mechanics on Saturday.

That had followed a much more encouraging 2-1 defeat away to Wick Academy a week ago when the Grantown side was unlucky not to take at least a point from a very good second half performance.

The experienced management duo have had to gel a team together with a lot of incomings over the summer after Thistle had just two registered players on their books just over two months ago.

Beckwith took over the reins just over two and a half-months ago.

But in a shock move announced this evening on social media, Grant Mackellar, new majority shareholder and CEO, said that they were now looking at appointing a new management team.

He stated: “Strathspey Thistle can today announce that it has parted company with Bobby Beckwith and Ronnie Sharp.

“As CEO of Strathspey Thistle, I have always held high expectations for our club.

“While our pre-season showed promise, our recent performances have been disappointing and have not met the standards we strive for.

“We are actively working on appointing a new management team and will keep you informed of any developments.

“Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding during this time of transition.”

The club is currently bottom of the league and has finished there the past two seasons.

A target of finishing outside of the bottom three had been the stated target of Beckwith, with the aim of creating solid foundations in his first season.

Both Bobby Beckwith and Grant Mackellar have been contacted for comment.
