The SNP politician has described the loss of broadband services to more than 70 homes and businesses in the local area as an ‘concerning situation’.

He is seeking clarity over how it has been allowed to occur, as well as demanding assurances it will not be repeated.

Mr Leadbitter said: “This is a concerning situation for residents who are reliant on their access to the internet to work, conduct their businesses and connect to the wider world.

“I’ve sought clarity as to what exactly has happened to allow this to unfold and cause havoc, and more importantly, I’ve asked for assurances from TransmitAIR that this will not happen again.

"I was satisfied in my call with company bosses that they understand the seriousness of what happened, and the impact it is having on the community.

“Rural communities like this one need to be able to have confidence in vital pieces of infrastructure like the internet and can’t be left in the dark. This cannot be allowed to occur again.”

TransmitAIR are in dispute with Cellnex UK which shares the site with Arqiva who are not involved in the row.
