Aviemore Parkrunners beat the weather as ever





The weekend's Aviemore Parkrun drew a fantastic turnout despite the appalling weather.

All ages were represented, mixing first timers with the old hands and producing an interesting result, with female runners taking first and second places in amazing times.

The 103rd running of the event saw 67 people run, jog or walk the course, with 18 first timers.

Some 19 new personal bests were recorded, with 11 clubs being represented.

The event was made possible by eight volunteers: Liz Smith, Peter Shepherd, Jane Shepherd, Val Machin, Catriona Clubb, Paul Jarvis, Eddie Smith and David Machin.

The male record is held by Andrew Douglas (15:10) and female best so far is that of Morag Maclarty (17:05).

Aviemore parkrun started on May 6, 2017. Since then 3,058 participants have completed 6,639 parkruns covering a total distance of 33,195 km. A total of 137 individuals have volunteered 949 times.
