It's party time for pensioners in Badenoch

The capital of Badenoch is gearing up for Christmas.

For starters, senior citizens are getting ready to flock there in answer to their festive party invitations.

The town’s community council is planning for a two-day party this year - with a couple of sessions booked at the Tipsy Laird.

Said chairman Alan Davidson: "It’s really due to the size of the venue and we’re just planning ahead in case the event is over-subscribed.

"Invitations are now going out for the party on Sunday December 14 for a 1pm lunch, which will be followed by afternoon entertainment until 5pm.

"If the numbers justify it, there will be another lunch on the Monday."

Kincraig Community Council is also now sending out "a warm, welcoming, open invitation" to the annual Christmas lunch.

It is being held at 12.30pm for 1pm in the Duke of Gordon Hotel in Kingussie on Tuesday December 9.

Organiser Susan Libeks told the "Strathy": "As always trying to contact everyone in this community is a challenge - geographically Kincraig and vicinity is one of the largest in the area but with a small and ever-changing population.

"The community starts from the south boundary of Aviemore down to Lynchat, through Kincraig, Insh and Drumuish and covers the whole of Alvie, Dalraddy, Dunachton and Glenfeshie estates.

"If anyone lives in this area or knows someone who is who may like to attend, they can get in touch by either registering at the Kincraig Village Post Office or calling Lesley Dudgeon on (01540) 651762.

"There is also a limited amount of transport and car sharing available upon request."

Both events are free but both communities welcome donations to help towards some of the costs.
