'Payback due to communities' says Badenoch's MSP
Badenoch MSP Kate Forbes is urging Highland groups working with young people to apply for the next round of funding from the Scottish Government’s Cashback for Communities initiative.
Over the past decade more than £2.5 million seized from criminals has helped to fund projects in the Highlands which divert disadvantaged young people away from crime.
The Cashback for Communities scheme reinvests criminal assets into community projects which support young people into positive destinations, diverting some away from potentially criminal or anti-social behaviour.
Phase five of the programme is currently open for applications until Friday, June 28.

Ms Forbes, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, said: “The Cashback for Communities has the potential to transform lives.
“This new phase builds on previously successful phases, and I would like to see as many people and communities in the Highlands benefit.
“It is a unique programme which takes funds from criminal offences to invest in young people at risk of turning to crime and anti-social behaviour.
“There are doubtless facilities and activities in the Highlands that could do with some additional financial support and so I recommend they apply for this scheme before the deadline at the end of June.”
