Strange creature is spotted on prowl in Grantown street
A wild and mysterious creature has been spotted fleetingly in Grantown... but has now gone to ground.
The figure covered in what appears to be artificial turf was spotted stumbling in front of a home in the town whilst, it should be added, adhering to social distancing measures.
But fear not it turned out to be local joker Martin Grant entertaining his grandchildren during lockdown on the town's MacGregor Avenue.
The idea was planted when he spotted some left-over fake turf from laying out his garden last summer.
Mr Grant said: "My daughter Sarah and my grandchildren live right across the road from us: in fact we can virtually look through each other's windows so to speak.
"I thought it would be a good idea to cheer up Georgia (4) and Brodie (2).
"I had done my lawn last year and this was the off-cuts which I had not gotten round to throwing away."
However, it was not a case of 'hoe, hoe, hoe' – not immediately anyway – for little Georgia.
She was rather worried as she looked on until mum explained who the mystery figure was.
Mr Grant said: "She was a bit scared until she was told it was granddad just trying to make her laugh.
"If the clip gives other people a laugh too then that's what it is all about in these difficult times."
The footage was recorded and posted by daughter Sarah with the message: "Neighbours in this street have lost the plot!"
It was shared by Grantown's social media community page who were delighted to be able to provide some cheer during the coronavirus lochdown: "We thought you could all do with a good laugh. Thanks mystery man or woman."
Diana Fenton posted: "Great to see someone with a good sense of humour making other people laugh. Perhaps you'll decide on a new career when this is all over!!!?
"Meanwhile, thank you so much for lightening the day."
Gillian Foster said: "OMG best laugh all day...but well done Martin Grant."
The footage is now raking in new fans....
