Power restored to Strathspey customers are cable brought down
Things are back on track at Strathspey Steam Railway after Monday's unscheduled delays.
A spokesperson at SSE told the Strathy today (Tuesday August 6) that a tree had come down by the track at Aviemore, "very probably weather-related after gales and heavy rain in the area", and taken a power cable with it.
The fall had come at 8.38am and had cut off some 336 local consumers.
"Engineers were quickly to the scene and enabling a connection for the local customers so that they could repair the damage. Probably about an hour's lost power was accounted for but we're pleased to say that the connection was safely restored by 9.44."
The first of the day's trains at the steam railway was cancelled but the company told the Strathy that services are back to normal now. Yesterday's 12.30 service ran as usual.
"And the first train today (Tuesday) was busy."
