"Really bad south of Dalwhinnie," reports one hassled motorist on social media.
The A9 group's site has carried this photograph from Maree Chisholm who warns:
"Hard packed Ice on A9 southbound carriageway."
Hopes that Storm Eunice would pass over by lunchtime were not born out and some areas, especially Badenoch, are still facing blizzard conditions.
In Strathspey, too, the storm continues, according to motorist Sarah Musgrove who posts:
"Sitting at a standstill just south of Slochd summit. Appears to be an accident ahead."
Traffic Scotland has since confirmed: "RTC on the A9 southbound at Slochd. Traffic queuing heavily on approach and difficult driving conditions due to the weather."
