Spud plays VE Day tribute at Grantown care home

VE DAY was a busy one for Spud the Piper as he marked the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe and lifted locals' morale during the coronavirus lockdown.

As well as performing on Carrbridge's famous packhourse bridge at 3pm on Friday, he also called by at Lynemore Care Home in neighbouring Grantown.

A spokesman said: "The pouring rain didn't dampen spirits as residents soaked up the atmosphere and enjoyed afternoon tea."

It was the latest performance for residents at Lynemore Care Home in Grantown by Spud, also known as Callum Fraser.

His late father was a resident at the town’s care home and Callum was a regular visitor.

Roslyn Munro, activities coordinator at Lynemore, said: “Spud has missing his visits so has decided to come weekly and play for us. We all love his performances and thank Spud for this!”
