More services and customers can be accommodated at the strath's sports centres following the recent move to Level 0, operator High Life Highland announced yesterday.

These include:

* moving to one metre social distancing indoors;

* increased capacity for group fitness classes, gyms and swims; and

* the introduction of open sessions of recreational swimming.

A HLH spokesperson said: "The guidance for Level 0 does not significantly change how we are able to operate and the vast majority of our Covid-19 management measures will remain in place.

"We are, however, pleased to announce some positive changes that will take place at leisure centres across the Highlands...

"The booking system remains in place and will guarantee your space but we can nowalso accommodate some walk up participation where there is capacity available.

"We will provide a further update as we move beyond Level 0 and operating guidance is updated and reviewed."

HLH operates three local sports centres in the strath –the Craig MacLean Sports Centre in Grantown, Aviemore Community Centre and the Badenoch Centre in Kingussie.
