How does a community radio station stay on air?

That’s right - it stays on air!

Speysound is making the point right now, raising vital funds for its service with a marathon show by one of its most popular presenters.

Cath Wright has done it all before and spectacularly with amazingly long stints in past years, but at midnight last night she launched this year’s effort and she’s still going to be going strong this time tomorrow - and little longer, indeed.

Cath’s Speysound Radio marathon radio show aims to broadcast live from Grantown High Street for an unbroken 30-hour programme.

She will keep the music and chat coming until noon on Sunday.

“We’re raising money for Speysound and giving a big shout out to all the businesses on this awesome High Street,” she told the Strathy.

“Anyone passing the ‘studio’ can pop in and have a word,” she explained, from her mixing desk in the Strathy’s former office, which is now the ever-popular Remakery which does so much for the community too.
