Spey Beekeepers Association is celebrating its 10th year
The Spey Beekeepers Association's 10th anniversary was marked with a well-attended annual general meeting in St John's Hall at Rothiemurchus, and it came complete with birthday cake.
It proved the perfect occasion to salute the work of original member Bridget Clyde and to thank her for all her hard work, enthusiasm and boundless energy.
“Her dedication to the Spey Beekeepers is quite remarkable,” said group spokeswoman Jennifer Lobban.
“Bridget carried the office of treasurer for eight years and for the last two years she also took on the work of secretary.”
The committee presented Bridget with bee-friendly plants and a bottle of wine to share with her husband Fraser.
Mrs Lobban added: “Anyone interested in keeping honey bees can join us.
“All the details are available on Facebook under Spey Beekeepers Association.”
The association has been going from strength since its establishment when a group of local enthusiasts decided to create an organisation bringing together widely dispersed individuals with hives across the valley from the distant corners of Badenoch and Strathspey.
The development of the association has coincided with the increased national and international awareness of the plight of bees and other pollinators faced with a range of challenges, not least the dramatic vagaries of climate change.
