Instructors at the Cairngorm Gliding Club have been given the go-ahead to take to the skies to keep up their flying hours.

However, the club has stressed that visitors will not be allowed to use the airstrip at Glenfeshie.

Club secretary Phil Hawkins said that limited flying had been given the go-ahead and would not be in breach of the Covid rules.

He said: "Local residents may notice the resumption of flying from the gliding club at Feshiebridge within the next few days, weather permitting.

"A limited number of solo flights by instructors have been authorised, so that instructors will be in current practice when the rules allow flying to resume for all members.

"At present, however, we should stress that no dual flying is allowed and no solo flying by non-instructors is allowed.

"Members are requested not to attend the airfield until further notice except for supporting roles such as tow plane pilots and inspectors.

"Clearly it will be some time before we can once again welcome the public as visitors to the club."
