Kingussie school takes a 'snow check' this morning

As winter's bite sinks to street level, with the first dump of snow covering villages and towns in Badenoch and Strathspey, a question mark hangs over today's school attendance.

In a Weather Information Update posted on Thursday evening, Kingussie High School head teacher Ian Adamson opts for caution.

He advises parents: "Please check Facebook or the adverse weather line tomorrow morning before sending your child to school.

"The roads were extremely icy on the way home tonight and I will be consulting tomorrow morning with the bus company to decide if it’s safe to run the school buses.

"Safety of pupils and staff travelling to and from school is always priority.

"More information will appear on Facebook tomorrow morning by 7.15am.

"Take care."
