Should Highland Council bring in inflation busting house rent rises?
Time is running out to have say on proposals to hike Highland Council house rents.
Every year Highland Council invites all tenants to give their views on the rent levels for the following year.
Tenants’ rent money pays for repairs, maintenance and improvements making it vital that the council has enough funds to carry out these essential tasks.
The local authority has said the cost of delivering these services has significantly increased over the past 12 months.

Councillor Glynis Campbell Sinclair, chair of the housing and property committee, said: “With the ongoing pressures on household budgets, it’s never been more important to receive feedback from tenants on rent levels.
"We encourage all tenants to have their say. The survey closes on Friday 13 December.”
A formal decision on the 2025/26 rent level will be made at the housing and property committee on January 29.
Tenants have been sent an email, text message or letter detailing the options for the rent increase.
They can follow links to the online survey and for those that do not have access to complete the survey online, there is a dedicated phone number so they can speak to a member of the tenant participation team between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
