Short term let control area for Badenoch and Strathspey up for approval

The go-ahead for Badenoch and Strathspey's short term let control area could be triggered later this week.

Members of Highland Council's economy and infrastructure committee will be asked at Inverness headquarters on Thursday to approve the establishment of the zone for the whole of Badenoch and Strathspey.

Supporters hope that it is one way of tackling the lack of affordable homes in the strath for locals but business leaders have condemned the move saying it will do little to solve the current crisis and will damage the local economy.

Committee chairman Ken Gowans said: “The Short Term Let Control Area for Badenoch and Strathspey area will be brought before the economy and infrastructure committee to seek approval for the commencement of the control area.
