Searches have continued in freezing weather by police officers and friends to find Rod Falcon who has been missing since the earlier hours of Sunday morning.

The 33-year-old was last seen about 2am that day at The Vault nightclub on Grampian Road in the centre of Aviemore.

He not been seen or heard from since which is out of character and there is a lot of concern for his welfare.

A friend of Mr Falcon told the Strathy a short time ago: "There's a large group out searching this morning, and searches happened through quite a lot of the night but sadly there is nothing yet.

"The current focus is south of Aviemore due to the last CCTV sightings."

Police officers have been out searching with dogs and also checking CCTV footage in local businesses to attempt to trace Mr Falcon's movements before he disappeared.

The force issued an appeal for information on his where-abouts yesterday.

Chief Inspector Stuart Clemenson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who believes they may have seen Rodrigo at any time since the early hours of Sunday to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“Given the current cold weather I would ask anyone with a shed or outbuilding where someone may seek shelter to check this and report anything which may be notable to us.

“I would also urge anyone who may have been driving in the Aviemore area or on the A9 around 3am on Sunday to check any dashcam footage you may have.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 2387 of 11 December.”

Mr Falcon is described as being 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, with dark hair cut in a mullet style with a moustache and beard.

When last seen he was wearing a brown woollen coat, a red jumper and baggy jeans.

It is understood that Mr Falcon may have left his distinctive coat behind at The Vault and so just was wearing his jumper at the time of his disappearance.
