Claire Candy, of Minerva's Emporium, told the Strathy: "Hardly anyone around Caroline knows of her writing.

"In fact, she's published by Cranachan Press, where she rubs shoulders with the likes of Barbara Henderson.

"That's why we're launching her latest volume 'The Spear of Truth' this week in our shop and it should be a lot of fun – her book is the culmination of a four-volume young adult/fantasy series, a questing adventure based around Scottish mythology, so we've organised a fully themed one-day event.

"It's a real faerie fest and everyone's invited!"

The shop can be found half way down the High Street.

The day will start with a floral crown workshop which will be followed by a reading from the author, which in turn will be followed by a discussion about Scottish myth and legend in modern literature.

"There’s also a spell jar workshop and a professional tarot card reader coming in," said Claire.
